WORKSHOP

The Sourdough Bread

The mother of foods. An ancestral element that is connecting us with the past. One of the staple foods that nourished our ancestors and the resource that is connecting us with them. The basic nourishment when there was no other. Her essence infused with the Elements and the grains created by Mother Earth.

The wholesome wheat on the table, the water and its memory, the micro-community of the sourdough starter, the sea salt crystals.

We pause for a moment to engage with all our senses into the bread making process as a sensorial ritual.

We alchemise the ingredients, we observe the changes, we create something new collectively and in togetherness.

We learn about the biology of her fermentation and we relate her to our own bodies; the physical and the emotional.

Notice her breath, feel her skin, transform the love by following our intuition …

CONTENTS OF THE WORKSHOP

We place sourdough bread in focus and we work with it holistically. We create a safe circle of women crafting one of the most ancient sources of nourishment in togetherness.

Through meditation and heart-full food preparation practices we connect with the essence of the wheat and we handcraft the bread as a sensorial ritual.

We gather and we consume it around ‘Estia’, the centre of our home.

We share stories or we remain silent to honour the present moment of connection and listen to our intuition …

TESTIMONIALS

Kasia R. // POLAND

‘The sourdough bread workshop has moved me beyond the art of bread making. It has been an encounter with the power of female energy accompanied by the journey to the essence of Mother Earth. I would recommend this event to every woman who wants to reconnect with the female energy and get inspired by the presence of a fantastic artist and guide - Alexandra.’.

Poulcheria M. // GREECE

‘After giving a few days to myself to digest and fully understand what I learnt in this illuminating and deep workshop that Alexandra visualised and gave birth to, very naturally this philosophical question came to me as the aftertaste of this dual experience of the body's and soul's nourishment : “ will you keep breadcrumbing yourself when you now know how to create a bread from the scratch?”. Thank you Alexandra!
I will always treasure this experience’.

Jana D. // UK

‘This work of the weekend felt life changing. Coming back to this ceremonial way of being in communion to prepare our meals, to share our stories and taste our food together slowly and intentionally, with reverence for what we were eating, brought me in touch with my body and relationship with food as it hasn’t done before’.

Sonia V. // PORTUGAL

“The experience was very well worth it. I have most definitely appreciated the mystical communion between women, the ingredients, and the process. Obrigado!”
